SALZBURG The Home Of Mozart

The man himself. A few facts:
Born: January 27, 1756
Composed his first works at the age of 4, his first symphony at 8.
In 1782 Mozart married the sister of the woman he had unsuccessfully courted several years earlier.
His final work, the Requiem, lay unfinished at his early death.
Died: December 5, 1791
Mozart's grave is unmarked.

this graveyard was an unexpected turn up, as we were just wandering around one day and happened to see this place so had a little look and it turned out to be a really interesting place.

Vivien (the owner of the finger in the picture!) translated this better than I could, but it says something like:
"What I was, you now are, and what I am, you soon will be."

each part of the walls had elaborate markers and statues like this one, Death with the sands of time in his hand... cheerful.

the courtyard before the concert took place.

again, a view from the fortress looking back into the hills and mountains towards to alps, which are not so far away.

looking down from the fortress the night of the concert. There was a massive powercut that night, all across the city as you can see there are no lights anywhere.

on a bridge with old town behind us.

inside the Augustina Brew House. The large marble "sink" in the foreground is where you wash your glass before handing it to the dude behind the bar for another...

looking upto the fortress

a panoramic view, with the old town on the right, and you can just see the huge fortress on top of the hill. One evening we went up to the fortress, as we'd got tickets for an open air concert in the courtyard of some of Mozarts music.

one of the many nice gardens in and around the center

Vivien cooling her hands off in the central fountain.

we went for a walk down the Salzach, and ended up an Augustina Brew House, which had some cracking wiess beers

in front of the house where little Mozart was born

in the Dom, behind the house where Mozart was born

after getting some bretzel action, we got some olivesd, cheese and sauages in aswell for a little picnic. (and wine)

the center of old Salzburg, viewed from across the river Salzach, a beautiful city.

heaven for me, a BRETZEL shop..!!!

yes, someone had definately put something into that hotstuff...

the famous street in Salzburg, on which Mozart was born

some spoilt rich dog with its own sports car.

Vivien happy to be in Salzburg, the third time for her I think, living so close by...

I think someone had put something into the "hot stuff" from the Asian bar...

nice sunset over Salzburg by the center

I had some time to kill, as Vivien was getting the train from Munich to Salzburg for a long weekend, so I holed up in this Asian place for a few beers and some hot stuff...

finally reached Salzburg, after another baking hot day...

saw this cool trike on the way into Salzburg

Lovely pictures, will come back to read. Exceptional angle on the fortress and the river panorama.
